We had such a great time exploring Lake Geneva during the spring, that we couldn’t wait to explore Lake Geneva during the summer. As always, we had a fantastic time!

A wild safari adventure
When I heard that they had a safari in Lake Geneva, we knew we had to add that to our list of must-dos. What a great time at Safari Lake Geneva! We hopped in the tractor-pulled wagon and was given a cup of feed for the animals. The friendly tour guide even sat with us in the wagon so it was much more personalized and happily answered any questions. The animals were already begging for food before we even set off to explore the 800-acre ranch.
Every few minutes or so, we stopped so we could feed the animals. Let me tell you, the animals closer to the entrance are much, much hungrier. It’s tempting to give all the food to them right away, but try to save some feed for the animals you will meet later on.
They had a variety of animals such as bison, yaks, mini horses, cows, and more exotic animals.
It was funny watching the animals follow us around.
Practice your skills
On Fridays, kids of all levels can learn a thing or two about golf at a drop-in clinic located at the Geneva National Resort. The instructor, Heidi, is energetic, patient and down to earth and totally makes the golf clinic fun. My kids, with zero golf experience, had so much fun learning the basics of golf like the proper stance and swing. They had a little one-on-one time with Heidi and then they were off to try on their own.
At the end of the session, they were able to try their putting skills at the green. Plus, playing with emoji balls makes it so much more fun!
Learn about Geneva
We visited Geneva Lake Museum which takes you through Old Town Geneva. We were lucky enough to have taken a tour with one of their docents Jim, who had a wealth of knowledge about the artifacts and the history of the town. While Jim guided us through the museum, the kids were busy crossing off items on their I-Spy worksheet. A genius way to keep the kids busy and entertained, while learning more about the history.
Get on the lake and have ice cream
Boat tours are super fun, and are made extra special when ice cream is involved! The Ice Cream Social Tour on the Lake Geneva Cruise Line is a great way to experience Geneva Lake while learning fun facts about the mansions dotting the lake shore.
Gawk at mansions
On my morning runs, I was able to explore the Lake Geneva Shore Path. After all, I had easy access from my hotel room. The designated path around the lake is maintained by property owners so the trail is not all the same and can range from concrete to gravel. . I can attest that some of the path is really close to the edge. That’s when I chickened out and headed back the other way.
Places to EAT
You’ll never run out of food options at Lake Geneva. We tried Popeye’s, Oakfire, Sprechers, (again!), and Simple Cafe, Avant Bicycle & Cafe. I’ll be sharing more details about it in a different post.
Places to STAY
The Cove of Lake Geneva, an all-suite hotel, has a lot going for it especially its location. Their slogan “center to it all” couldn’t be truer. Located a short walk away from downtown, the lake, the beach, lakeshore path, restaurants, and museums. Besides its fabulous location, the rooms are spacious, nicely appointed with a kitchenette. Plus, who can resist their large pool? In the warmer months, their outdoor pool area is open along with the kiddie area.
Looking for a home away from home? The Villas at Grand Geneva Resort are secluded but includes all the amenities provided by the resort including Timber Ridge Lodge & Waterpark. Perfect for big families!
