Groupon has the Jazzin’ at the Shedd tickets again this year, but unlike last year you need to choose which date you’ll go to before you buy. Check it out here.
When I first heard that the Shedd Aquarium had an event called Jazzin’ at the Shedd, I immediately thought it was just for adults. To my surprise, there were other families with their children. Even though my son was only 14 months, he had a blast dancing to the Jazz music being played and of course looking at all the “fishies.”
The Nitty Gritty: Definitely not cost effective for the family. We were in luck and scored a Groupon Deal. We went here on during Wednesday summer evening last summer 2011 for Jazzin’ in the Shedd compliments of Groupon. An awesome deal which included the Wild Reef. A steal considering admission is crazy expensive for each adult. The savings from the tickets we probably spent on parking for only $20!
The fun: Since it was a Wednesday evening, it was not too crowded. Not a lot of families, as this is typically more for date night couples. Nevertheless, we loved not having to fight for space. Not a huge museum, so we got to see everything offered. They had the Wild Reef (3rd floor) open as well and included in our admission. They also had the Jellies exhibit which is really pretty, but it is a really small exhibit. I expected it to be a little bit bigger.
Son’s fav moment: There was jazz music being played by the Caribbean Reef (middle of museum) and my son loved dancing to their music. He enjoyed watching the diver in the Caribbean Reef.
Parent’s fav moment: I loved the Wild Reef with all the beautiful colored fish.
Bottom Line: I would recommend if you could score a great deal or if money is not an issue. I can see how crowded it could get during a weekend or even weekday, so be prepared. I would definitely recommend Jazzin at the Shedd if you can get tickets to is as well. You’ll beat the crowds and pay less!
Tip: Stroller friendly (if not too crowded)
