We went to the Lincoln Park Zoo as a family last year when my son turned one. We decided to come here and partner it again with a trip to the Peggy Notebaert Museum (review here).

The Nitty Gritty: It is a short walk from the Peggy Notebaert Museum. We just paid for parking at the adjoining lot and walked to both locations. Admission is free! Definitely bring the stroller if you need it, but it may be a little tight if you go to any of the “animal houses.”

The fun: We saw lions, monkeys, flamingos, giraffes and more! They have finished the boardwalk and it has a magnificent view of the Chicago skyline.

The only bummer was that my 2 year old son couldn’t ride the train with with his aunt (who is 90 lbs and probably weighs less than some kids). I don’t think we missed much though because the train only went in a small circle, and it cost $2 each.

Highlights:

  •  A picture perfect moment with a magnificent view of the skyline and boardwalk

  • Seeing cows, pigs, ponies and more at the Farm in the Zoo

Bottom Line:A definite MUST see in Chicago. All children will enjoy this zoo. We plan to come here again since my son now LOVES animals. They have tons of events including the famous Zoo Lights in the winter.
