A couple days ago, we wrote about our latest visit to Pirates’ Cove in Elk Grove Village. I thought it would be fun to get to know their pirate mascot, Pirate Pete, a little bit better, so we had a little one on one. Check it out!
Me: How can we meet you? What are some other ways we can hang out?
Pirate Pete: There are parties all summer long. You can choose an afternoon or evening 7 days a week. Day camps are welcome and they visit us all summer on weekdays. Every Friday is a special event. No extra charge, they run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and they include stage shows, parades, games and more!
Me: What is your favorite ride in the park?
Pirate Pete: The Soarin’ Schooners ride is my new favorite. The boats take you up and around the giant pirate.
Me: Do you have any tips for the young pirates and their families that visit?
Pirate Pete: Have the kids wear gym shoes to be able to climb and jump. Bring your own drinks and snacks if you like, but you can still buy food at the concession stand. We’re open on Tuesdays and Thursdays until 8 p.m. so don’t let a busy day schedule stop you from coming.
Me: What is your favorite event at Pirate’s Cove?
Pirate Pete: Every Friday is a special event, but Super Hero Day is the best.
Me: How old are you?
Pirate Pete: I’m ageless. But I have been here at Pirate’s Cove since 1981 so everyone thinks I’m 36.
So there you have it! Plan your visit to Pirates’ Cove and be sure to say hi to Pirate Pete and his parrot PJ.
